I Posted Too Soon...

Oh man! We had a major scare here at headquarters.

Here's what happened.

I go to clean out Noah's cage, and he's not really running from me. When I pick him up, his belly is wet and smells like urine. OH GREAT I think to myself before taking him to the bathroom for a rinse.  I use tepid water and run him under the faucet- taking care to avoid his little face. HE WAS SO CUTE WHEN HE WAS WET! (I took pictures.)

I wrap him in a towel to dry him off and hold him like a swaddled baby. When I look into his face to talk to him in a high-pitched voice, I notice that one side of his nose isn't wriggling. It's sealed off and a little crusty. At this point, I grow concerned. He's wheezing and squeaking while he breathes. Mom says he's just stressed from the bath, so when he's all dry I put him back in his cage. Since he was so good, I offer him a piece of a banana, which he ignores. So I pull out the treat bag. He usually gets really excited at the crinkle of the bag and starts to beg, but he barely moved. When I stuck the treat in his face, he just looked away. HE DIDN'T EVEN LICK IT.

Soooo I call the vet. They say to bring him in around 8 when the bunny vet gets to the clinic, I say fine. I continue to hold Noah, and he just sits on my tummy or hops a few feet away to lay on the bed. His breathing becomes more and more labored, and at this point I'm getting anxious. Suddenly, I hear a raspy sound and look over as he starts to cough. COUGH! He hopped off the bed (first time all day) and continued to cough.

Well, I scoop him up, wrap him in a towel, run downstairs and sort of shout, "MOM, WE'RE GOING TO THE VET NOW!!!!"

We get there before the bunny vet (obvs) but thankfully one of the techs is really good with rabbits and she gets his nose cleaned out. Mom and I leave for about an hour then go back to check on him. An older couple comes in looking very distressed and holding a cat who is "blocked". Ew. They look at mom and me and ask, "Do you have a cat or dog here, too?"

I say, "No, I brought my bunny."

They look at me for a moment and then say, "Well... that's alright."

DAMN STRAIGHT IT'S ALRIGHT OLD PEOPLE!

The vet comes out, tells me he has an upper respiratory infection and instructs me on how to give him medicine and what to watch for. He has to be under close surveillance for the next 48 hours (apparently antibiotics can be bad for bunnies??). Oh yeah, and I can't feed him alfalfa hay. She said it's like giving him cheesecake everyday. SHOOT. I usually feed him timothy hay, this is the first alfalfa bag I switched to.

Anyway, we wait for them to bring my baby back out, and another couple walks in with..  A RABBIT! He's much bigger, and apparently in worse shape. Poor thing. When the couple finds out we have a bunny too, we instantly bond. Although, I think they're a little more fanatical about bunnies. I'm just fanatical about Noah.

They bring Noah out wrapped in a towel so that I couldn't see any part of him. He peed on the towel I brought, so we told the nice people they could keep it. ;D I uncover his little head to see his little nose wriggling and he snuggles up underneath my chin.

I'm glad Noah knows I saved his life. If I waited another 24 hours, he might not be with us today! I just gave him his medicine, and he took it like a CHAMP! He's also been eating and drinking and chasing Sookie. I think he's going to be juuuust fine!

Oh Yeah, We're All Still Alive!

I'm just barely keeping my head above water, though. Taking a full course load, commuting, getting applications ready to hopefully transfer come spring, and babysitting a 2 year old 3 days a week can be quite much. Oh yeah, and maintaining a relationship. I made myself tired just typing that.

Anyway, I did have time for some Noah cuddles... Even some time to make a lovely, EDITED video! Ooohhh you're so lucky.

Oh yeah, that background noise is Supernanny on TV! I watch it as research for my job *nod*

Noah the Interior Decorator?

In this clip, Noah shows off what he's learned from Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. You know, that ever popular design show? Yes. He's a fan.

But I must say... He's quite shy about his gift. Did you see how he froze when he realized I was filming him? I want to tell him to embrace his passion for design, but he's a little hard to reach sometimes.

Ok ok ok...

It's been forever. I know. PLEASE FORGIVE MEEEE!

Alrighty, let's see what I've got... OH! FOUND ONE! A sweet little clip of a dimly lit Noah standing up and eating a carrot. Enjoy!

Don't Blink!

Or you'll miss it...

I have a brief clip of the happy bunny dance, also known as a binky. Noah just randomly dances, which is why it's difficult to catch the happy bunny dance on camera. No worries, I'll just try harder!

Alright. Get ready..

The first time I ever witnessed the happy bunny dance, I thought he had fleas.

Absolutely Precious

So, I thought I was capturing an adorable Noah moment... and then..

That still cracks me up... Stupid rabbit head-butted me.

Caught In The Act!!

Noah and Miss Charlotte were caught getting cozy earlier in the evening. Sources say the two have been spending increasing amounts of time together, specifically out on romantic dates. Miss Charlotte denies these claims, and Noah could not be reached for comment.

I, for one, think the pictures speak for themselves. It is only a matter of time before these two announce they are a couple.

Also, this is an outtake- but I had to share it because it's kind of funny.

They have laser eyes!! Target acquired.

He Always Has To Put On A Show

Noah just cannot stand being out of the spotlight. He showed me his new routine a little bit ago. It's pretty cute, I can't deny it. But it's clear he likes to be the center of attention.

Oh Noah, Noah, Noah. I love my bun. On a side note, I really need to get better lighting here at the 2 Cats 1 Bun headquarters.

My Baby Is Growing Up!

Noah has gotten bigger. MUCH bigger than when I first brought my babybun home. This is good. It would be nice if Noah could stay a kitten (the correct term for a baby bunny), but it's fun to watch him grow up into a teenagebun.

So itty bitty.

But now, check out his growth progress!

Congratulations Noah!! You are big!

Kickin' Back

Noah has fulfilled his Easter Bunny duties! It is now his time to relax. Job well-done!

Noah can go back to his normal, quiet life. No worries, he'll be back next year!

The Hiding Of The Eggs

The Hiding Of The Eggs is the greatest Easter ritual. I mean, it's the whole point of the holiday. The Easter Bunny hides eggs, and you find them. It's not Easter without that. There's some other stuff, like Jesus rising from the dead, but that's all secondary.

Onward!

Noah has a thing for booze.

This is dangerous! Someone could step on it if they aren't careful!

Seriously Noah? Do you think we're blind?

That's a little better...

Good one! I just hope he gets out before I get hungry..

Beautifully done, Noah. Wonderful.

The Obligatory Bunny In A Basket Pose

We here at 2 Cats 1 Bun are fully aware that no Easter is complete without a bunny in a basket and some fake eggs. First, we tried to be different and used a bowl. We quickly discovered that baskets are, in fact, superior.

Charlotte and Sookie joined... They're so angry that it's an Easter Bunny and not an Easter Cat. It's always about them. Don't worry Noah, you're still the star!

Easter Bowl... Meh

Oh, much better! We adhere to tradition!

Well, well. Hello Sookie.

You can tell Charlotte feels betrayed by Noah... How could he steal the spotlight?!

Charlotte feigns boredom. And looks like a freak whilst doing so.

Sookie checks out the basket and the eggs.

And then punches Noah in the head because she's jealous. Charlotte looks away in disdain.

Also, here is Noah's booty. IT'S A COTTON BALL!

In short, Noah is the cutest of everything. And he's going to make a rockin' Easter Bunny in the morning! I adore him!

The Easter Bunnies Employ Slave Labor

How else do you think they get so many eggs?

Noah checks out the first batch of eggs while his slave (me) stands in the background.

He takes a closer look.

He does not approve of the raspberry egg... I was just following the colors on the back of the food dye box! It's not like Noah gave me many options.

But overall, he approves. I would be stepping out of place if I told him that Easter Bunnies do not incubate the Easter eggs. Oh well, all the eggs are his "children" and he loves each and every one!

He has given me permission to continue my work.. only 104729 more eggs to dye!

'Ey, It's Noah Bunboa

Being an Easter Bunny requires tremendous strength. Carrying thousands of Easter baskets is no small task, you know. Noah managed to squeeze in one last work out before tomorrow... and I got to be his spotter. He's gotten really buff in the past forty days! He can bench press a full pound now!

I would say he's physically ready for tomorrow. Did you see his bulging muscles??

Here Comes Noah Cotton Butt!

It's almost Easter! Today, we tried to work out Noah's route. I don't think he's very good at reading maps...

"You will start in this location."

"Then head northeast..."

"And east from there.. Right there, yes, that's good."

"Next, you're going to go the long way, so head south by southeast. Are you still with me?"

"Go straight up north, see what I mean by the long way? Noah? Noah! Pay attention!"

He doesn't seem to understand how important this is. Our success is contingent upon his ability to follow the route!! Otherwise, thousands of children will be left egg-less and basket-less! They will lose all faith in the Easter Bunny, and will shun the entire holiday for the rest of their lives! Then, their children will never know of the joys of finding dyed eggs! Generations will miss out!  It will be a disaster!!!

I must stay calm... There is still much to do.

They Love Each Other...

Lighting: Poor. Image quality: Poor. Content: AMAZING. Well, I don't know about that last one. But I like my movie. It has a special effect.

The few. The proud. The Easter Bunnies.

Easter bunny training continues. Sometimes, I don't know if we'll make it. But we continue to move forward!!

I explained to Noah that the Easter Bunny typically gives children chocolate. His diet mainly consists of pellets, hay, banana yogurt dipped treats, and tropical fruit treats. So he's not familiar with chocolate. Chocolate is a very difficult thing to explain.

After I tell Noah all about the joys of chocolate, I decide to put him to the test. "Bring me chocolate!!" I said.

Silly rabbit, Godiva White Chocolate Liqueur is illegal to give to young children! We'd better crack down before the law gets involved...

The No-ster Has Got Some Work To Do!

If you didn't catch it, The No-ster is my "pet name" for Noah. So are Babybunz and Jerk. (Sookie= Sookieboo OR Sookster, Charlotte= Charcharbaby OR Charlotte the Harlot, Sookie+Charlotte= The Goober Girls). Oh! I almost forgot. Noah's full name is Noah Jacques. It makes sense.

Anyway, we here at 2 Cats 1 Bun are eagerly awaiting Easter Sunday!! Not that lent is very easy. I originally attempted to cut back on my time spent on an addicting virtual world. It makes me such a dork just to play it... and then I'm not even cool there! So I'm like, Queen Uber-Dork.

Charlotte is preparing in her own little harlot way. We're working on not whining and not being so self-centered.

Sookie has apparently given up sleeping in practical places as well as any physical exertion. I suppose she just wants to be your Easter Basket... Wooo

But it is Noah Jacques who bears the heaviest burden. We here at 2 cats 1 bun have our very own EASTER BUNNY!! The No-ster has stepped up and is currently in training. We have faith that he can hide millions of eggs around the US and be back by dinner. Or really just two plushie eggs in my room.. whatever.

So I got Noah and one of our lovely Eggs to meet, and I'd say it went along swimmingly!

Getting acquainted...

Serious bonding time

Practicing hiding. I think.

Behind The Scenes

During the holidays, quite a few families feel the need to send out a card saying "Merry Christmas from the Xxxxxs!" with a very lovely photograph of the family, or the children.  I hate these.  What am I going to do with your Christmas card/portrait?  Frame it?  Hang it on the fridge?  Neither, because if I have your family on my fridge and somebody asks "Oh! Are they your cousins?" I'll have to say "No, I barely know them actually..." which makes me look weird.

I want to see all the photographs that didn't make the cut.  The one where mommy is yelling at someone, baby's screaming, sister blinks and looks high... But nobody ever shares those.

Well, I have decided to take a family portrait of all of us here at 2 Cats 1 Bun.  Not for a Christmas card (although... maybe a Christmas letter to get back at those annoying second cousins who put their unborn child's ultrasound on a letter. "In October, Noah reached sexual maturity and hopped in circles around my feet while grunting like a pig!").  Our portrait will be used in the new blog design!! Woo!

In the meantime- here are some out-takes!
